Albertus Magnus Association, Inc. – Osnabrück Diocesan Association

Financial Aid for College?
The AMV can help!
The Albertus Magnus Society—who are they, and what do they do?
The Albertus Magnus Association, Osnabrück Diocesan Chapter (AMV), is named after the Doctor of the Church, naturalist, philosopher, and bishop Albertus Magnus and was founded at the beginning of the 20th century. It is a member of the German Albertus Magnus Association (Deutscher Albertus-Magnus-Verein e.V.) in Trier and is under the supervision of the Bishop of Osnabrück.
The AMV provides interest-free loans to Christians who reside in the Diocese of Osnabrück and do not have sufficient funds to complete their studies.
The AMV is not concerned with further increasing student enrollment, but rather with supporting young people who, as Christians, aspire to pursue a lay academic career. We want to give students who do not have sufficient funds to finance their studies the opportunity to achieve their career goals without financial hardship.
For this reason, repayment of the loan in installments is not required until the borrower's financial circumstances allow it.
How can I apply for a loan?
Loans are generally approved at the end of April and the end of October for the current semester. Applications should be submitted to our office by March 15 or September 15, if possible.
The following must be submitted with the application:
- A letter explaining the reasons for your application (maximum one page)
- Documentation of the applicant's income situation
- Certificate of Enrollment for the Current Semester
- Transcript of Records
- a completed → Darlehensantrag
- The association reserves the right to request references on a case-by-case basis.
Can I get multiple loans?
A repeat application may also be submitted—that is, after a loan has already been approved once. In that case, the following must be submitted:
- the certificate of enrollment for the current semester,
- if applicable, a transcript of academic records showing coursework completed to date,
- a new loan application.
What if my application is not approved?
The AMV grants loans within the limits of its financial resources and takes into account the individual urgency of each applicant when making its decisions. If an application is not approved, it may be resubmitted the following semester.
When and how do I have to repay the loan?
Repayment begins as soon as the recipient’s financial circumstances allow, typically after completing their studies and starting a career. The monthly repayment amount is set at €100.00. There are no interest charges or fees!
What if I don't live in the Diocese of Osnabrück?
Applicants who do not live in the Diocese of Osnabrück may contact the AMV in their home diocese. For students who do not have an AMV in their home diocese, the German Albertus Magnus Association (Deutscher Albertus-Magnus-Verein e.V.) in Trier is responsible.
